I am going to tell you something that is difficult to believe but I beg you to listen: Constipation has only one main cause. People yell and curse at me for this and doctors cry “foul” but I reiterate: Constipation has only one real, main, “when it gets down to it, cause” and that cause is dehydration. This does not mean that all constipation is caused by not drinking enough water or that water is “the” constipation remedy. It also does not mean that constipation can always be “fixed” by drinking more water. Please read a bit more. I guarantee: I am not going to waste your time.
The problem with the above diagnosis is that prescription medications, damaged intestinal flora, sluggish intestinal cilia, slow digestive musculature, lack of sufficient water intake, stress, poor bathroom habits, and another half a dozen other factors can cause dehydration and dehydration leads to constipation. Because of this people think for instance, that: my prescriptions caused my constipation (I am not saying that stopping your doctor recommended meds is a constipation remedy). Actually it is almost the opposite. Prescriptions slowed your bowels, and slow bowels causes your fecal material to dehydrate. Dehydrated bowel material causes constipation.
Please don’t think for one second that I am wasting your time with word games or semantics. Believe me, I know the constipation remedy, and I am going to show it to you so you can eliminate it yourself. First however I have to show you the truth. The only real cause of constipation is dehydration. Even if this “dehydration” was begun with antibiotics, other meds, poor habits, bad diet, or even not drinking enough water. Stay with me a bit longer please.
Here it is in the simplest terms: Food is chewed, moistened with saliva, and swallowed. In the stomach it is further liquefied with acid, enzymes, and bile. It then moves into the intestines to begin its journey out of the body. Leaving the stomach it has the consistency of baby food. The intestines remove water and nutrients from the food. We then call it “fecal material.” It should move through in 8 to 24 hours and will leave the body as well formed, still hydrated feces (sorry about the nature of this conversation but you need the truth).
To make this all happen (a constipation remedy), a few things must exist:
1. A person must drink about two liters (or quarts) per day, varying a bit by activity level, weight of the person, and time of year.
2. The intestinal cilia and musculature must be functioning reasonably well.
3. The intestinal flora must be fairly well intact.
4. The person must have some daily physical activity
5. The person cannot be overly stressed or overly acidic for long periods of time.
6. The person cannot be taking prescription drugs or illicit drugs that act as diuretics or that slow the digestive tract, making it sluggish.
Well that may sound like a lot of “musts” but I am not going to lie to you. Constipation requires a few things to be working properly, and some of them are not considered by most allopathic healers.
To keep this article short and to the point, I have to summarize here and tell you that almost all digestive disorders can be solved and drugs and water are not always the answer.
